What are the signs of an improperly functioning colon?

When patients go to the doctor, they name one or more of these symptoms that have been present for years: constipation, tongue, bad breath, light complexion, dark circles under the eyes, abnormal body odour, cold hands and feet, unstable blood pressure (raised or lowered), weak nails and hair, sagging posture (pot belly), nervousness, fatigue, allergies, indigestion, menstrual problems, swollen legs, asthma, back pain and memory or concentration lack of concentration.

Is the process painful?

Very little. Sometimes, during the procedure, the colon muscles may suddenly contract to drain large amounts of fluid and waste into the rectum and out of the tube. This contraction may feel like a spasm or flatulence with pressure on the rectum. Most of the procedure is gentle and mild and there is a light, empty, clean feeling afterwards.

Is colon hydrotherapy safe?

It is completely safe. A professionally trained and skilled colon technician will attend to you, Sterile disposable tubes and speculums are used for each treatment to prevent any contamination. The water pressure is the normal pressure required for a healthy bowel movement.

Is it embarrassing?

No. Your dignity is fully maintained and we take pride in making your treatment a pleasant experience. Treatments take place in a private room. You will be given a robe and a blanket to cover your body. Equipment is used so there are no uncomfortable or embarrassing smells during the colon hydrotherapy session.

How long does a colon hydrotherapy session take?

Plan on approximately one hour per visit. You will be at the table for approximately 45 minutes and will need time before and after using the restroom.

What should I do before my session?

Avoid foods that produce gas such as beans and cabbage on the day of your colon cancer screening and the day before to help reduce cramping. If you know of other foods that can give you gas, avoid these too. It is more comfortable not to eat at least two hours before your scheduled appointment time. For best results, avoid high fat foods and prepare a diet of vegetables and grains.

What kind of diet should I follow after undergoing colon hydrotherapy?

After a colon cleanse, your body may feel tired or relaxed. This is simply your body working out and processing during the cleanse; therefore, proper rest is important for your body to recover and rejuvenate. After receiving colon hydrotherapy, for best results:
– drink plenty of fluids (distilled or purified water, fruit juices, herbal teas)
– Eat a light diet for 24 hours after the procedure (vegetable soup is recommended)
– Avoid eating raw vegetables for a day or two. Steamed vegetables and raw fruit are sufficient – chew slowly. Also avoid anything frozen
or icy cold.
– Reduce meat consumption. (especially beef, pork and chicken)

Does a colonic completely empty the colon?

Not often. Many of us have large amounts of affected faeces in our colon, which consists of hardened, rubbery or wallpaper-like material. Secondly, there is a learning process in accepting colitis. As you become more aware of what is happening in your abdomen, and as your body learns how to accept the cleansing experience, you are better able to enter the process and therefore release more material. One colon will remove some of the stagnant waste from the colon. A second and subsequent colon will remove even more. However much you wish to have will depend on your personal health goals and the recommendations of your therapist.

If I use colon hydrotherapy regularly to cleanse my colon, will my colon stop working on its own?
An important feature of colon hydrotherapy is that it strengthens the colon and prevents it from becoming sluggish. When the colon is sluggish and bowel movements do not return after a few days of treatment, it is an indication that a series of colon cleanses are needed to remove the faeces that have built up in the bowel over the years. Once the colonics series has successfully cleansed the colon, it will begin to function normally.

Will colon hydrotherapy leave me with constipation or diarrhoea?

Many clients experience a slight delay in bowel movements after treatment, followed by a return to larger, easier to move stools.

Will colon hydrotherapy wash away intestinal flora and vital nutrients?
In fact, washing away the putrefactive material from the colon, which is only partially achieved with colon hydrotherapy, increases the beneficial intestinal flora. Good bacteria can only flourish in a clean environment free from decay and its accompanying harmful bacteria. This is why a newborn’s intestines immediately begin to grow good intestinal flora. Every time you clean up decaying waste and create a better environment for the flora, they immediately begin to multiply in their natural medium. It stands to reason that valuable nutrients are more readily absorbed in a clean environment than in a decaying one. We recommend that most people take probiotic supplements regularly to replenish the levels of beneficial bacteria in their bodies.

Does colon hydrotherapy create a habit?

Colon hydrotherapy retrains the muscles or intestines to restore strength. After a series, most people regain normal bowel function with one exercise per day. A healthy bowel has 2 to 3 bowel movements per day, depending on the food you eat. Trouble is usually first recognised by the individual as constipation or diarrhoea. These red flags, as well as foul-smelling faeces and gas, can go unnoticed. Golden brown is considered a normal colour, but vegetable colours are now recommended to reflect vegetables. During constipation, you may observe a darkening of the faeces due to a longer transition time in the system. The colon distributes the products of decay, fermentation and spoilage into the bloodstream.

What kind of water is used?

Will laxatives and/or enemas achieve the same results?

No! To cleanse the lower part of the colon, an enema works well. However, you are missing about four feet of colon. Laxatives are irritating to the body and cause the body to produce a thin, watery substance that passes through the colon, leaving affected waste in the colon walls. Colon hydrotherapy can safely cleanse the entire colon.
